Sony has finally released a firmware fix to remedy “bricked” PlayStation 3 consoles, that were a result of the Update 4.45 that was released last week.
The release fixes the initial problem caused by firmware update 4.45, whereby certain unlucky players who installed the new update found that their consoles were left hovering in the limbo of the welcome screens. Players have also said that they are unable to shut down the console, leaving them to remove the power cord in order to turn their PS3 off.
Sony posted the instructions on the Playstation Support centre to get your PS3 back on track.
You’ll basically have to download update 4.46 to a USB drive and install the new patch while your PS3 is in safe mode.
Check out the full instructions to fix the PS3 system software version 4.45 issue.
