In one of the most unsurprising announcements ever made, SCEA president Jack Tretton told GameTrailers that Killzone 3 is currently in development.
“We own Guerrilla [Games] and they did a great job on Killzone 1 and 2. I don’t know whether you’ll see announcements about it [at E3], but I can promise you a Killzone 3.”
Rumours emerged earlier this month that Sony would be showing off Killzone 2 at E3, and also that the game would support 3D visuals as well as the PlayStation Move.
Official PlayStation Magazine is also guilty of rumour mongering, with reports that Killzone 3 being deep in developments being attributed to the magazine late last year. This is the first official comment that Sony has given on the game.
Killzone 2 remains one of the PS3’s most flaunted exclusive properties. The first person shooter boasts impressive visuals and an action heavy multiplayer component.
