PSN update day moved from Thursday to Tuesday

19 April 2010

Everyone who uses the PlayStation Network regularly knows that every Thursday Sony updates it content, with new games, demos etc.

From the beginning of May however, Sony will be updating the PSN every Tuesday in the US, and every Wednesday in Europe, and therefore SA.

The Thursday update has been a long standing bone of contention with PSN users, as Xbox Live is updated on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This has meant that Xbox 360 owners have always gotten their content a bit earlier than PS3 owners.

This week’s update will be the last time that the PSN gets new content on a Thursday. Why Sony didn’t simply leap frog Microsoft and update on Mondays, therefore giving their users earlier access to new content is not clear.
