Over 4.2 million PS4 consoles sold

8 January 2014

Just as Microsoft has finished tooting its horn about 3 million Xbox One consoles sold in 2013, Sony has blatted on its own trumpet, announcing that over 4.2 million PS4 consoles have been sold as of 28 December.

During CES 2014, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House made the announcement, adding that more than 9.7 million pieces of PS4 software have been sold worldwide, including retail and PlayStation store purchases.

Adding to these stats, game streaming service Twitch announced that PS4 gamers generated 20% of Twitch broadcasts between 23 December and 3 January.

Sony added that over 1.7 million streams have been broadcast using the PS4 from 15 November to 6 January. 55 Million minutes of footage has been broadcast through Twitch and Ustream.

I bet Sony is giggling like little school girls every time they see the sale figures.
