Killzone 3 details leaked

24 May 2010

Pages from the latest issue of Gamepro magazine that was due to hit shelves on June 1 have been leaked to the interwebz.

One of the most noteworthy additions that Killzone 3 will get is jetpacks (*cough* Halo: Reach *cough*). The vertical dimension should add some interesting dynamics to gameplay, although it remains to be seen just how game changing it will be.

Uncharted 2 developer Naughty Dog – veritable video game royalty – has apparently been helping Guerilla Games out on the new title, and the developer has stated that it will work hard on fleshing out the story of the Hellghast, promising more depth. Until now they have pretty much played the archetypical villain role, so some actual insight into Helghan society and culture could do wonders for the believability of the narrative as a whole.

Killzone 3 will also fully support 3D, which is steadily gaining traction in the industry as more 3D capable TVs become available. This will reportedly be demonstrated at E3 next month.

Lastly, there was mention of a new weapon called “The Wasp,” which shoots multiple rockets into the air, that then target a single enemy.

Gamepro stated that the game looks very complete, so we are banking on a release date announcement at E3. It also seems likely that it will be out before the end of the year.
