Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry is reporting that PSOne and PS2 backwards compatibility is in the works for the PlayStation 4, according to their well-placed source.
This is aside from the PlayStation Now game streaming service, which will reportedly only feature PS3 games for the time being.
The PSOne and PS2 games will run locally under emulation. Basically, you will be buying the classic games via download.
Digital Foundry reports that Sony may be implementing an HD resolution rendering system, rather than a simple image upscaling which can result in a blurry picture.
Are there any PSOne and PS2 classics you would play emulated on a PS4? Let us know in the comments below.
