Polytron’s charming puzzle-platformer FEZ has been successfully ported by Blit Software and is heading to PS4, PS3, and PS Vita on 25 March 2014. No price has been announced.

FEZ runs at native resolution on PS Vita, 720p 60FPS on PS3, and 1080p 60FPS on PS4. Polytron says the PS4 version is the “best-looking and smoothest Fez experience you can get on a TV set.”

There are not any changes to the core game, but some neat additions make it into the PS4 version, such as the Dual Shock 4 lightbar matching the game’s environments. There is support for 3D TV and PlayStation cross-platform saves.

Fez has won numerous industry accolades celebrating it’s awesome indie-ness, including “Excellence in Visual Art” award at the Independent Games Festival in 2008, Story/World Design and Grand Jury, at IndieCade in 2011, and “Seamus McNally Grand Prize” at the Independent Games Festival in 2012.

Aside from the visuals, the 2D puzzle-platformer uses a unique mechanic to rotate its world in a 3D plane, thereby revealing hidden and inaccessible areas, or completely changing the dynamic of a level.

Quinton thought it was a cracker when he reviewed Fez on Xbox 360, saying:

Fez is just one of those games – and I hate to use this expression – that needs to be “experienced” more than played.

There’s nothing here that it expressly challenging or daunting – but at the same time, it’s probably more memorable that the countless shooters out there.

Yay! Been waiting for a release date for Fez. I am glad it will be supporting cross-save, I just hope it is cross buy. Feels like a perfect game to play on Vita, but would love to see the visuals on my PS4
