Yesterday we reported that PS3 HDMI bundles had been spotted in the US. The lack of an HDMI cable in most PS3 bundles has been a contentious issue for some time, so it was a relief to see that Sony is finally including the cable in some bundles at least. The PS3 has traditionally shipped with a composite cable, which is not capable transferring a high-definition signal.
Today Eurogamer reported that the UK would not be getting any of these bundles.
We got in touch will a local PlayStation representatives and he confirmed that the HDMI bundles are already available at select retailers in SA. He could not guarantee availability at specific retailers, but they definitely are out there with the other bundles.
He hinted that they market specific bundles at specific retailers based on what their perceived market it. High-end electronics stores are more likely to have the HDMI bundles in stock, as their customer base is supposedly more interested in HD playback. More dedicated games retailers however may be more likely to have the bundles that focus on games.
