When asked about Sony’s target market, Marks responded: “We are targeting everybody – we have casual experiences for people who have never played games, but because the [Move] is so precise and responsive, we also have games that will appeal to core players.”
McEdwards asked the question which is probably on most core player’s minds – What will make them choose the Move if they weren’t interested in the Wii? McEdwards once again punted the precision angle, stating that the device will be a substitute for many of the things that a mouse does, and it will be very accurate for shooting games. I guess we’ll have to take his word for now.
The CNN segment ended off with Marks giving a brief demo of some of the augmented reality features the controller is capable of, and then he pwnd McEdwards at a quick round of table tennis. Catch the whole PlayStation 3 Move segment on the CNN website.
It seems that both Sony and Microsoft are pushing hard to ensure the ‘core’ gamers remain interested in their motion control gimmicks. The proof will be in the pudding as the devices gear up for their Christmas shopping season launch dates.
