The next time you switch on your PS3 you will be able to download and install a brand new firmware update which does absolutely nothing. Unless of course you were planning on jail breaking your console, because firmware update 3.55 is a security patch.
The patch is mandatory if you plan on using the PlayStation Network, and you will be prompted to download it the next time you turn your console on while it is connected to the internet.
Posters over on the official PlayStation Blog are not particularly pleased, with many accusing Sony of ignoring their requests to improve the online service by adding features through patches .
Many still complain of the lack of cross game voice chat, voice messaging and custom avatars. Personally, I’ll keep wishing hard for MKV and NTFS support.
