BioWare “aware of” Mass Effect 2 PS3 save corruption, working on a fix

26 January 2011

Mass Effect 2’s PS3 launch has encountered some solar flare disruption, with users complaining that their saved game files are becoming corrupted, and some people losing up to 30 hours of progress. Apparently the issue can spread outside the game, with a few players reporting entire hard disk corruption.

“Just to make it clear, we are aware of this issue and are working to understand what is occurring and how we can fix it,” writes BioWare’s Chris Priestly on the company’s official forums. “If you are encountering this issue, please provide details about your PS3 and your playthrough.”

Another staffer, Jesse Huston, has posted in the same thread, asking affected players to provide specific information about the problem to help resolve the issue.

For the moment, BioWare is suggesting that players use multiple save slots for their game, or simply hold off playing altogether until a fix is released.
