Rovio Entertainment has announced that Angry Birds Star Wars will be getting a sequel, and revealed that the game would feature toys like that of Skylanders and Disney Infinity.

The game will be based on the Star Wars prequels (Episodes 1-3) and will feature new characters to the mobile franchise.

The game integrates Hasbro’s Telepods technology to allow the use of toys to be implemented in the game. Players can place these figures on their phone or tablet camera to scan them into the game.

“Fling your favourite characters, including a young pod-racing Anakin, Mace Windu, General Grievous, Darth Maul, and yes… even Jar Jar Binks”, said Rovio.

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 will also allow players to choose between playing as the birds or piggies, either choosing to side with the Angry Bird rebels or “the Pork Side”.

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 will launch on 19 September 2013. There are no pricing or platform details announced.
