Everything you need to know about Portal 2, Steam, and the PS3

14 April 2011

Valve has dropped an intel-bomb detailing Steam’s upcoming integration on PS3 for Portal 2.

The key features of the PC-PS3 cross-platform intergration:

•    Portal 2 will feature cross-platform matchmaking, friend lists, chat, and access to redeemed DLC between the PS3 and PC/Mac.

•    Steam on the PS3 includes support for the Steam Cloud, allowing all settings, games saves, and progress to be transferable from one console to another.

•    Players’ Portal 2 gameplay stats and any earned achievements will appear on their Steam community profile. Additionally, any Steam achievements earned in Portal 2 on PS3 will be unlocked on your Steam profile.

•    By linking their Steam and PSN IDs, players of the PS3 version of Portal 2 can access and play their copy of Portal 2 on any PC or Mac by redeeming a once-off, in-box access code on their computer, and downloading the Steam version of the game.

For more information about linking profiles and assuming the correct Party Escort Submission Position, check out Steam’s official page on the subject.
