Sony has stamped its seal of approval on what many PS3 gamers will have be longing for for some time. A headset is ideal for those sharing a small space, especially when it happens to be a wife/girlfriend your sharing it with. While most TVs and sound systems have headset outputs, the idea of a dedicated wireless gaming headset with full surround sound is potentially an exciting prospect.
The battery operated headest will also come standard with a retractable microphone and mute button, and battery life will be indicated on the TV screen.
While this is not the first wireless headset that Sony has approved, it is the first to take advantage of the console’s 7.1 surround sound capabilities.
The headset will carry a recomended retail price of $100 in the US, so we can probably expect to pay around R1600 for it locally. Although it remains unclear if these babies will be available through prominent local retail channels, we can be sure that it will be possible to get hold of them one way or another.
