One of the most-anticipated games of the year was undoubtedly The Last of Us, and after receiving some glowing review scores, the game has gone on to sell over 3.4 million copies – not bad for a PS3 exclusive.
This means that Naughty Dog’s apocalyptic survival game is the best selling PS3 game of 2013, more than this year’s other exclusives such as God of War: Ascension, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and the brilliant Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.
“These sales figures are a testament to the blockbuster quality of The Last of Us,” said Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios.
“The teams at Naughty Dog are true visionaries and their storytelling capabilities are second to none, this title is an undisputed demonstration of that,”
The sales figure is great news for Naughty Dog, who did have to deal with some unlucky PR regarding Ellen Page’s comments (which were then clarified) and an artist accusing Naughty Dog of stealing.
