Naughty Dog has gone ahead and announced a third sequel in the critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive franchise, Uncharted.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is set for release next year, and will see series protagonist Nathan Drake partner up with old friend Sully as they hunt for a lost city. Players will journey to the Arabian Peninsula and Rub’al Khali Desert.

Entertainment Weekly got exclusive dibs on this story, and even got some hands on time with the game at Naughty Dog HQ. Keeping grounded in the franchise’s history, Uncharted 3 will take from the life of Nathan Drake’s famous pirate/navy officer ancestor, Sir Francis Drake. It will also feed off the life of T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia).

Uncharted 2 was 2010’s most critically acclaimed game, and many agree that it is the PS3’s most appealing exclusive. More on the sequel is expected to be revealed over the weekend at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, so expect a massive media blow out starting next Monday.
