Since MyGaming last analysed the PSN South African store, comparing PS4 digital download prices to a physical retail copies, the prices have come down on third-party titles.
This is due to a kerfuffle over the EU PSN store pricing (South Africa falls under this region for price guidelines). European gamers were concerned that third-party PS4 games via PSN were more expensive than the title on Xbox Live. The various publishers involved have since reduced their PSN prices to bring parity.
South African PSN store titles have also been reduced in price, but not by much. The table below highlights the old and new pricing, with reductions bolded, and compared to SA retail prices.

Sony’s Playstation 4 launches on 13 December at a recommended retail price of R6,299. The console will have accessories such as extra Dualshock 4 controllers and charging stands available on launch, although the PS4’s vertical stand and the red and blue controllers will not be available on launch.
