will pay R420 to every GeForce GTX 970 owner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nvidia has stated that it will pay every GeForce GTX 970 owner $30 USD, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/videocardz.com\/62720\/nvidia-settles-class-action-lawsuit-over-geforce-gtx-970-controversy\" target=\"_blank\">VideoCardz.com<\/a><\/strong> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0company has agreed to pay compensation\u00a0to each GeForce GTX 970 owner, after reaching a settlement regarding the recent class-action lawsuit levelled against\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, the $30 compensation is equivalent to <strong>R424.06<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The GeForce GTX 970 has remained a subject of\u00a0controversy since its launch, as Nvidia advertised the graphics card as having <strong>4GB of GDDR5 VRAM<\/strong>, while it only had <strong>3.5GB<\/strong> of usable, high-performance memory.<\/p>\n<p>Although the effect this memory deficit has on performance is uncertain, some owners were upset enough to file a class-action lawsuit against the company, demanding compensation.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia reached a preliminary settlement and has agreed to pay $30 compensation to each GTX 970 owner and an additional $1.3 million in legal fees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe settlement is fair and reasonable and falls within the range of possible approval,\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/topclassactions.com\/lawsuit-settlements\/lawsuit-news\/340705-nvidia-settles-graphics-card-false-advertising-class-action\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> said attorneys<\/strong> <\/a>for the proposed Class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the product of extended arms-length negotiations between experienced attorneys familiar with the legal and factual issues of this case and all settlement class members are treated fairly under the terms of the settlement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is currently uncertain whether this $30 compensation will extend to GeForce GTX 970 owners
