South Africa will be one of a select <\/a><\/strong>few countries to receive Samsung’s new Tizen smartphones later this year.<\/p>\n

The first handest to arrive will be Samsung’s Z2, making it the first Tizen phone to release with 4G support.<\/p>\n

The phone is also rumored to have around 1GB RAM and an AMOLED display,\u00a0and is targeted at\u00a0developing markets across thew world.<\/p>\n

So why Tizen instead of Android? There have been rumours<\/strong> <\/a>for a while that Samsung might be backing Tizen as a long-term successor to Android.<\/p>\n

Tizen is in many ways similar to Android. Built from the same, open-source model, it is clearly hoping to be considered an option for manufacturers who don’t want to get involved with Google, for whatever reason.<\/p>\n

Tizen is very much like Android. It will have the same basis in a secure, stable operating system that is trusted by millions all over the world.<\/p>\n

It will also be able to run Android apps out of the box.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
