There will be no catching them all this year’s municipal elections, reports Times Live<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This follows a ban on any “selfie-taking<\/strong>” at this year’s elections following possible security concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an offence to take and\/or publish photographs which reveal a person\u2019s vote on a ballot paper. Upon conviction offenders will be liable to a fine or a term of imprisonment not exceeding one year,\u201dsaid <\/a><\/strong>IEC spokesperson Kate Bapela about “selfies” 2014.<\/p>\n

While it was not viable to take away all voters\u2019 cellphones as they entered the booths, the organisation asked people to respect the law.<\/p>\n

Times Live contacted the IEC directly for comment who responded with “a rather amused answer being a flat \u201cno\u201d.<\/p>\n

“So even if you see that charizard just begging for an EFF red beret by the side of the line\u201a or an ANC-yellow pikachu\u201a or DA-blue blastoise\u201a you are sadly not allowed to catch it at your polling station on August 3.”<\/p>\n

This means you will\u00a0just have to stand bored in line and wait like everyone else there.<\/p>\n
