{"id":10079,"date":"2011-02-15T16:20:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-15T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"bioware-won-t-break-wow-rules-making-star-wars-the-old-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/10079-bioware-won-t-break-wow-rules-making-star-wars-the-old-republic","title":{"rendered":"BioWare won\u2019t \u201cbreak WoW rules\u201d making Star Wars: The Old Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking at the DICE summit, BioWare&rsquo;s Greg Zeschuk has gone on record saying that Blizzard&#8217;s massively popular MMO, World of Warcraft, is the touchstone for developing StarWars: The Old Republic.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/furiousfanboys.com\/2011\/02\/bioware-admits-tor-is-a-wow-clone\/\" target=\"_blank\">Furiousfanboys<\/a> Zeschuk said,&nbsp; &ldquo;It is a touchstone. It has established standards, it&rsquo;s established how you play an MMO. Every MMO that comes out, I play and look at it. And if they break any of the WoW rules, in my book that&rsquo;s pretty dumb.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not this is a good thing remains to be seen. On one hand, one could argue that there is no room for a StarWars themed WoW-clone in the MMO-sphere, but on the other hand, we can understand BioWare wanting to take advantage of certain design principles which have kept millions of gamers coming back to WoW for the past 7 years.<\/p>\n<p>StarWars: The Old Republic is due out sometime this year, and will be released exclusively for Windows.<\/p>\n<p>Are you planning on getting The Old Republic?
