No Man’s Sky is finally available to both PC and PS4 gamers around the world and general consensus surrounding the game seems to be positive, if not a bit disappointed.<\/p>\n
It’s clear that many were expecting a little more than just another survival-exploration game and while the procedural generation is impressive, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before.<\/p>\n
To prove this point, the game is currently sitting on a Metacritic rating of\u00a071<\/a>,<\/strong> which while a good score, is definitely not\u00a0as high as fans of the game expected.<\/p>\n You can check out what the major review sites are saying about the game below:<\/p>\n No Man’s Sky\u00a0isn’t quite what I thought it would be. It’s a fun sandbox game that’s full of wonder, until it isn’t.<\/p>\n Unlike other similar titles, the magic fades over time, because\u00a018 billion planets (sorry, 18\u00a0quintillion)\u00a0don’t matter if it feels like there’s only truly 20 unique ones.<\/p>\n I wouldn’t recommend\u00a0No Man’s Sky<\/em>\u00a0if you don’t like getting lost — but for those of you who do, wander away.<\/p>\n No Man\u2019s Sky isn\u2019t flawless. It\u2019s probably not for everyone. Then again, No Man\u2019s Sky is exactly as described by the eccentric Sean Murray.<\/p>\n If you\u2019ve ever dreamed of being a cosmonaut, of starting with practically nothing and amassing a fortune, of becoming a notorious space pirate, or had any other of the countless sci-fi fantasies out there, this is probably the game for you.<\/p>\n Like Spore before it, No Man\u2019s Sky is a game that promised far more than it could ever deliver, but I can\u2019t even blame my tepid reaction on hype.<\/p>\n I did not for a second believe Hello Games\u2019 vaguely described spacefarer could be anywhere near as varied and expansive as promised.<\/p>\n Even with my expectations guarded, however, I did not expect just another survival\/crafting game that used randomization as a crutch to the point of losing all potential personality.<\/p>\n And I at least expected more to fucking do.<\/p>\n No Man’s Sky fulfills its basic function, offering impressive exploration of endless planets, with plenty of amazing vistas and exciting discoveries.<\/p>\n Some other elements – like combat, survival or inventory management – are poorly thought-out though, which lessens the overall experience.<\/p>\n Hello Games’ ambitious title is great for short trips and relaxing sightseeing, not extensive all-nighters.<\/p>\n
