EA has had a change of heart about remastering classic games for current-gen consoles, reports Game Informer.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This follows a statement by EA’s Patrick\u00a0S\u00f6derlund in 2015, who said\u00a0that the publisher was likely to focus on new IPs rather than remasters.<\/p>\n

“What’s changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke,” said S\u00f6derlund.<\/p>\n

“There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want. The honest answer is that we are absolutely actively looking at it.”<\/p>\n

“I can’t announce anything today, but you can expect us most likely to follow our fellow partners in Activision and other companies that have done this successfully.”<\/p>\n

Soderlund also confirmed that the first gameplay trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda was on the way and that the game is still scheduled to release in early 2017.<\/p>\n

“You’ll get [your first look at gameplay] in the not too distant future.”<\/p>\n

“Right now we’re focused on our big titles for [October through December], and when that’s done, we’ll shift to Mass Effect. You’ll see a lot more very shortly.”<\/p>\n
