{"id":102190,"date":"2016-08-26T09:00:39","date_gmt":"2016-08-26T07:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=102190"},"modified":"2016-08-26T09:14:24","modified_gmt":"2016-08-26T07:14:24","slug":"everything-you-need-to-know-about-xbox-scorpio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/xbox\/102190-everything-you-need-to-know-about-xbox-scorpio","title":{"rendered":"Everything you need to know about Xbox Scorpio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft&#8217;s powerful upcoming Xbox console has been announced, titled Project Scorpio, but what do we actually know about this new piece of gaming hardware?<\/p>\n<p>Project Scorpio will be the ultimate Microsoft gaming console, and will be aimed at 4K gaming.<\/p>\n<p>The console will be part of the same &#8220;family&#8221;\u00a0as the Xbox One and Xbox One S, meaning that any new Xbox One games will work across all three of these platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Check out everything we know about Project Scorpio below:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Specifications<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Xbox One S<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>GPU Clock Speed<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 914MHz<\/li>\n<li><strong>Memory Bandwidth<\/strong> \u2013 219GB\/s<\/li>\n<li><strong>Memory<\/strong> \u2013 8GB 2,133MHz DDR3 + 32MB ESRAM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>4K Gaming<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Phil Spencer recently stated on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XboxP3\/status\/768104072578686976\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter <\/a><\/strong>that the games library\u00a0for Project Scorpio was shaping up well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Portfolio is shaping up very well. It&#8217;s great that teams are getting up to speed with 4K gaming now on PC to prepare for Scorpio,&#8221; said Spencer.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has ambitiously set its sights on 4K gaming with Project Scorpio,\u00a0stating that the console will offer <strong>6 TFLOPS<\/strong> of peak compute.<\/p>\n<p>Although a TFLOPS measurement doesn&#8217;t offer a concrete indication of performance, it\u00a0can serve to give consumers a decent idea of what to expect from hardware.<\/p>\n<p>The AMD RX 480 has a peak compute of 5.8 TFLOPS, which is close to the Scorpio&#8217;s projected 6 TFLOPS.<\/p>\n<p>The main point of contention\u00a0here is that the Radeon RX 480 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4k.com\/gaming\/amd-radeon-rx-480-4k1440p-gpu-review-plenty-of-power-at-a-superb-price\/\" target=\"_blank\">cannot deliver<\/a><\/strong> 4K gaming at 60 frames-per-second.
