{"id":10247,"date":"2011-02-23T10:10:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-23T08:10:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"rumour-control-hack-proof-ps3-sku-in-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/10247-rumour-control-hack-proof-ps3-sku-in-development","title":{"rendered":"Rumour control: hack-proof PS3 SKU in development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, this might just be about the most disreputable rumour in the history of rumours, but a <a href=\"http:\/\/everythinghq.com\/2011\/02\/sony-preparing-hack-proof-ps3-sku\/\" target=\"_blank\">website <\/a>you&rsquo;ve probably never heard of is reporting that according to their &ndash; ahem &#8211; &ldquo;anonymous source&rdquo;, Sony is developing a &ldquo;hack-proof PS3 SKU&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s supposedly set to ship with a 300GB HDD, and priced at &pound;186.99 in the UK (around R2000 or so). The article also claims that older models will see a price drop when this launches.<\/p>\n<p>While there&rsquo;s obviously no such thing as a &ldquo;hack-proof&rdquo; anything, it&rsquo;s not at all unlikely that &ndash; recent events considered &ndash; Sony is working on a new PS3 model that&rsquo;s at least secured against current exploits. Presumably, it comes with a gigantic titanium padlock strapped to its secret bits, charged with a 10000-volt payload.<\/p>\n<p>Unless Sony plans to brick all those old, compromised PS3s, however, they must also have something in the works to stop those gaps in their system security.
