Gaming on Linux and Steam OS has come long way over the last couple of years with it now being more viable than ever to play on the Windows alternatives.<\/p>\n
While there are plenty of games that are available and run just fine on Linux, with over 1,843 games<\/a><\/strong> available on those systems at last count.<\/p>\n The biggest problem are the games that aren’t there, according to a report by PCWorld<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which Valve announced was \u201cComing to SteamOS\u201d with a huge banner on the Steam store, was perhaps the biggest tease of all.”<\/p>\n “That banner was taken down just a few hours later, and Valve never said anything further on the matter. CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3\u2019s developer, has refused to comment on Linux and SteamOS ports.”<\/p>\n It’s the same story with the Batman: Arkham Knight, Street Fighter V, Evolve, Project CARS,, and Rome Total War II ports – all were due to release on Steam OS and Linux and all were cancelled or have failed to release.<\/p>\n Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n “Many developers probably thought Steam Machines <\/a><\/strong> and SteamOS would be more successful when they made these promises, although some also thought their own games would be more successful, and had to scrambled when they weren\u2019t.”<\/p>\n “Still, it\u2019s a shame that developers so frequently back away on their promises.
