{"id":10275,"date":"2011-02-24T09:38:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-24T07:38:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"pc-monitor-tax-can-be-legally-avoided","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/10275-pc-monitor-tax-can-be-legally-avoided","title":{"rendered":"PC monitor tax can be legally avoided"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South African National Treasury announced yesterday that a 7% <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/18647-Computer-monitor-prices-set-jump.html\" target=\"_self\" title=\"ad valorem tax\">ad valorem tax<\/a> will be reinstated on computer monitors, but according to Mustek CEO <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313873-David-Kan\" target=\"_self\" title=\"David Kan\">David Kan<\/a>, it can be legally avoided.<\/p>\n<p>When the announcement was made yesterday it was unclear how the tax  was going to be levied. According to Kan this has become a bit clearer.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Since 2007, PC Monitor&rsquo;s tariff code has been changed to 8528,&rdquo;  explained Kan.
