{"id":103533,"date":"2016-09-06T08:29:22","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T06:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=103533"},"modified":"2016-09-06T08:30:17","modified_gmt":"2016-09-06T06:30:17","slug":"south-african-government-emails-exposed-in-brazzers-hack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/103533-south-african-government-emails-exposed-in-brazzers-hack","title":{"rendered":"South African government emails exposed in Brazzers hack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Breach monitoring site <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vigilante.pw\" target=\"_blank\">Vigilante.pw<\/a><\/strong> recently alerted the media to <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/178456-porn-site-forums-hacked-user-details-exposed.html\"><strong>a\u00a0leak of almost 800,000\u00a0user accounts<\/strong><\/a> from the forum of porn site Brazzers.<\/p>\n<p>Passwords were stored\u00a0in plain text, without hashing or salting,\u00a0making it easy for\u00a0criminals to use these credentials to\u00a0try and get into people\u2019s\u00a0accounts on other\u00a0services.<\/p>\n<p>Vigilante.pw said it aims to raise awareness about\u00a0database breaches by providing information on security flaws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe aim to inform and teach people about the importance of maintaining your privacy on the Internet, as well as keeping your personal information safe,\u201d said Vigilante.pw.<\/p>\n<p>The site\u2019s operator, who goes by \u201cKeen\u201d, told MyBroadband that the database contains 519 email address from South African domains.<\/p>\n<p>Most of these addresses are co.za.
