{"id":10373,"date":"2011-03-01T10:41:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-01T08:41:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"local-ps3-shortage-unlikely-sterkinekor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/playstation\/10373-local-ps3-shortage-unlikely-sterkinekor","title":{"rendered":"Local PS3 shortage unlikely &#8211; SterKinekor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/ps3\/10367-PS3-shipments-held-Europe-after-legal-injunction.html\" target=\"_self\">Sony announced<\/a> that PS3 shipments had been confiscated on their way into Europe following a legal injunction filed by LG over a <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/9931-wants-PS3s-banned-from-retail.html\" target=\"_self\">patent dispute. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The shipments were held on their way into Europe via the Netherlands. Incidentally, South African PS3 imports come from the Netherlands, leading to <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/ps3\/10371-Local-PS3-shortage-imminent.html\" target=\"_self\">speculation<\/a> that South Africa may be stuck without fresh PS3 stock for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Local PlayStation distributor SterKinekor has told MyGaming that local import stock has been confirmed as of this morning, and that it seems unlikely that this incident will impact South African PS3 stock levels.<\/p>\n<p>Sony international has still not provided an official comment on the situation, stating that it is looking into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>LG claims that Sony&rsquo;s PS3 makes use of technology which LG holds patents for. While the current European ban will only hold for the next 10 days, LG will be able to apply to have it extended thereafter.
