Mention the number “3” and the name Half-Life in the same sentence and most gamer’s hearts will skip a beat.<\/p>\n
While Valve’s sequel is becoming less and less likely, there are other games Gabe Newell and his team could be working on.<\/p>\n
One of these is “3wave”, a multiplayer title based on a Quake mod that shares many similarities with what eventually became Team Fortress 2.<\/p>\n
The game was never officially released however, as it along with a number of other games and assets (most notably Half-Life 2) were leaked to the public in 2013.<\/p>\n
That’s where Valve News Network’s Tyler McVicker<\/a><\/strong> comes in, reports Ars Technica<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n After hearing of the leaked Threewave mod in February (and apparently tracking down a complete version from a Vietnamese FTP server), McVicker worked with a programmer going by the handle PixelMiner to fix the outstanding issues making the mod unplayable.<\/p>\n After months of work, the results of their efforts are now playable and available for download<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n You can check out the game in action in the video below:<\/p>\n
