This free-to-play “knock-off” may be Overwatch’s biggest competition.<\/p>\n
Paladins<\/a><\/strong>, dubbed “the poor man’s Overwatch” by its users, is a new team based shooter from Hi-Rez Studios.<\/p>\n The game sees a number of selectable “Champions” with wildly different skill-sets and strengths duke it out in the game’s 5v5 objective-based arenas.<\/p>\n It has a Dwarf-engineer (complete with turret), an armoured tank character with a massive movable shield and of course, a\u00a0bow-wielding\u00a0sniper.<\/p>\n It’s not just a clone however, insists <\/a><\/strong>Hi-Rez co-founder Todd Harris.<\/p>\n The game has been in active development since 2012 and the team at Hi-Rez actively pushed against designs that were overly similar to Blizzard’s shooter.<\/p>\n Still, Paladins does have one major big advantage over its competitor – its completely free.<\/p>\n As a result, at the time of writing the game has surpassed one million downloads<\/a><\/strong> on Steam, just ten days after the game’s official release on 16 September.<\/p>\n
