Its a great time to be a tech user and gamer.<\/p>\n

There always seems to new and exciting on the horizon and we are genuinely excited for some releases in the next couple of months.<\/p>\n

Having said that, 2016 seems to be the year where everything has fallen apart, with continuous reports of new gadgets not living up to their name.<\/p>\n

We looked at three ways tech companies have made it impossible for us to upgrade:<\/p>\n

\n

Smartphones<\/h3>\n

\"note-7\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The iPhone 7 Plus is around the corner but many remain hesitant to upgrade\u00a0after\u00a0how poorly Apple dealt with the launch of iOS 10.<\/p>\n

While the excessive battery drain<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0was expected due to previous updates, the fact that the new firmware has also bricked <\/a><\/strong>phones hasn’t\u00a0exactly endeared users to the OS.<\/p>\n

Add to this you\u00a0can’t use your expensive headphones with your brand-new phone because of a missing 3.5mm jack<\/a><\/strong> and you can see why some\u00a0are frustrated.<\/p>\n

Samsung aren’t much better, with the Galaxy Note 7 quite literally blowing up<\/a><\/strong> in people’s faces.<\/p>\n

Consoles<\/h3>\n

\"ps4-pro-2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There’s nothing technically wrong with either the upcoming PlayStation 4 Slim or Xbox One S.<\/p>\n

It’s almost impossible<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>to make the jump however, knowing that there are new consoles coming within the next year that will be better in nearly every possible way.<\/p>\n

PC Hardware<\/h3>\n

\"graphics-card-gpu-stack\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In truth, Nvidia and AMD’s new cards are incredible pieces of tech and offer a clear performance gap over the previous generation of cards.<\/p>\n

If only\u00a0they weren’t so damn expensive<\/a><\/strong> in South Africa compared to the rest of the world.<\/p>\n

This isn’t helped by the fact that last year’s graphics prices have dropped<\/a><\/strong> through the floor, meaning a “sidegrade” is much easier on your wallet than an upgrade.<\/p>\n
