The PlayStation VR is officially available internationally from 13 October, but will not arrive in South Africa until January 2017.<\/p>\n
This means that while gamers worldwide will be enjoying virtual reality games on their consoles, South Africans will be stuck waiting for the next step in immersive gaming to reach our shores.<\/p>\n
International Pricing: $599<\/strong><\/p>\n The Oculus Rift is still not available locally, with gamers resorting to importing the device at a relatively high cost.<\/p>\n While it may be worth it to go through the effort of getting an Oculus Rift here, the lack of local availability means gamers have left newly-released VR Ready graphics cards so far untested by the new technology.<\/p>\n International Pricing: $799<\/strong><\/p>\n The HTC Vive is the pinnacle of consumer VR technology, with its included lighthouse towers and intuitive motion controllers providing gamers with an immersive virtual reality experience.<\/p>\n With this VR headset also not being available locally, South African gamers will have to wait to experience the future of gaming.<\/p>\n International Pricing: $49<\/strong><\/p>\n The Steam Link is a useful piece of hardware, allowing gamers to stream Steam games from their gaming rig to their TV with minimal latency over a decent LAN or WLAN\u00a0connection.<\/p>\n A\u00a0market for devices such as the Steam Link certainly exists locally, but the device is not available to purchase from the South African Steam Store.<\/p>\n International Pricing: $49<\/strong><\/p>\n Another device which South Africans are unable to purchase from the Steam Store is the Steam Controller, a uniquely-designed and ergonomic control device meant for use on either a living room PC or for traditional PC gaming.<\/p>\n With unique track pads and great Steam integration, it is a shame South Africans can not easily purchase this device\u00a0locally.<\/p>\n International Pricing: $500 – $1,400<\/strong><\/p>\n The Steam Machine is not a very successful product, but is still a viable alternative to console gaming due to its small form factor and horsepower.<\/p>\n These devices differ according to manufacturer and are essentially mini PCs, but they cannot be purchased from the South African Steam Store.<\/p>\n Intel Skylake Core i3 processors are powerful enough for high-end gaming<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n This is what cheat codes have become in 2016<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n![\"PS](\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/PS-VR.jpg\")
