{"id":106951,"date":"2016-10-07T11:01:33","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T09:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=106951"},"modified":"2016-10-07T11:03:33","modified_gmt":"2016-10-07T09:03:33","slug":"the-7-best-pc-games-you-cant-buy-on-steam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/106951-the-7-best-pc-games-you-cant-buy-on-steam","title":{"rendered":"The 7 best PC games you can&#8217;t buy on Steam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s safe to say that PC gamers unabashedly love Steam.<\/p>\n<p>Despite some complaints about how they deal with customer service, the monolithic gaming storefront consistently offers a great experience and affordable prices.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s also a world outside that little grey box on your desktop.<\/p>\n<p>We took a look at the 7 best games you can&#8217;t buy on Steam:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">League of Legends (<a href=\"https:\/\/signup.leagueoflegends.com\/en\/signup\/redownload\" target=\"_blank\">LoL Client<\/a>)<\/h3>\n<p>We know that South Africa is Dota\u00a02 country, but we can&#8217;t just ignore what is reportedly the biggest game in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you&#8217;re stuck in your ways, there&#8217;s nothing stopping you from downloading the standalone client and giving it a whirl &#8211; despite protestations, MOBAs\u00a0are similar enough that you can pick LoL up relatively easily and figure out what you&#8217;re doing.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not like your friends on Steam can see what you&#8217;re doing.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5MTc0gB8GQc\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Overwatch (and pretty much any Blizzard game) (<a href=\"https:\/\/us.battle.net\/account\/download\" target=\"_blank\">Battle.Net Client<\/a>)<\/h3>\n<p>There&#8217;s not much more to say other than most Blizzard games are quality.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than recommending a single title, we&#8217;re using this space to urge you to download the Battle.net client and give all of their available games a try.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HU4SBRuYacQ\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Forza Horizon 3 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.xbox.com\/en-US\/games\/forza-horizon-3\" target=\"_blank\">Windows 10 Store<\/a>)<\/h3>\n<p>The Xbox&#8217;s best racing franchise is now available on PC and it&#8217;s pretty damn good here too.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, you have to deal with the somewhat questionable\u00a0Windows 10 store, but Horizon 3 runs and plays wonderfully on modern PCs and is a must-have title for anyone even remotely interested in racing games.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fTSUgXkfooA\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Battlefield 1 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.origin.com\/zaf\/en-us\/store\/download\" target=\"_blank\">Origin<\/a>)<\/h3>\n<p>The last of the heavy hitters on this list, Battlefield 1 is looking like the must-play holiday game of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The beta looked and ran beautifully on PC and there&#8217;s no game on Steam that captures that same combination of massive warfare and classic Battlefield gameplay.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C-vAxVh8ins\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Guild Wars 2 (<a href=\"https:\/\/account.arena.net\/login\" target=\"_blank\">ArenaNet<\/a>)<\/h3>\n<p>It seems like the days of the MMO are waning,\u00a0and more and more titles have felt more comfortable releasing directly on Steam instead of in its own client.<\/p>\n<p>Guild Wars 2 remains a stout outlier &#8211;
