BAFTA fellow and venerated game designer Peter Molyneux has admitted to making stuff up to keep journalists entertained.<\/p>\n
While accepting his BAFTA fellowship at the ceremony yesterday evening, Molyneux said “I’d like to thank the press, by the way, for listening to my stuff. Sorry, I’ve slightly over-promised on things on occasion.”<\/p>\n
“I could name at least 10 features in games that I’ve made up to stop journalists going to sleep and I really apologise to the team for that,” Said Molyneux. “Every day I wake up and thank the stars that I’m still here now. I love my job so much and I really feel like going home and working harder than I’ve ever done to prove that I deserve this award.”<\/p>\n
Peter Molyneux received a Lifetime Achievement award at the 2011 Game Developers Conference<\/a> and now BAFTA (the British Academy of Film and Television Arts) has honoured the man with a ‘Fellowship<\/a>’ during their gaming awards ceremony.<\/p>\n Molyneux is the creative force behind some of the gaming industry’s iconic titles, including Dungeon Keeper, Theme Park, and Fable. Molyneux co-founded Bullfrog Productions in 1987 and created a new genre of computer games known as “the God game” with the release of Populous. Since then he has been responsible for a string of popular and experimental gaming titles including Powermonger, Theme Park, Magic Carpet, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and the Fable series. Cumulative sales of his games are at approximately fifteen million worldwide.<\/p>\n
