{"id":10751,"date":"2011-03-17T14:16:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-17T12:16:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"sony-granted-access-to-geohot-s-paypal-account","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/10751-sony-granted-access-to-geohot-s-paypal-account","title":{"rendered":"Sony granted access to GeoHot\u2019s PayPal account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>In the latest from the fronts of the ongoing legal drama between Sony and PS3 hacker George &ldquo;GeoHot&rdquo; Hotz, a federal magistrate has granted the company rights to subpoena Hotz&rsquo;s PayPal account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>This development is part of a complicated jurisdictional dispute, and may determine whether Hotz is prosecuted in his state of New Jersey, or Sony&rsquo;s preferred venue in California. Basically, it&rsquo;s just admin. Nobody&rsquo;s even accused anybody else of sleeping with other people yet. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>According to the order, Sony may now acquire &ldquo;documents sufficient to identify the source of funds (.pdf) in California that went into any PayPal account associated with geohot@gmail.com for the period of January 1, 2009, to February 1, 2011.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Hotz maintains that he did not receive any monetary donations for the console&rsquo;s jailbreak from people in California.
