{"id":107699,"date":"2016-10-11T13:00:56","date_gmt":"2016-10-11T11:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=107699"},"modified":"2016-10-11T13:06:15","modified_gmt":"2016-10-11T11:06:15","slug":"theres-one-reason-why-video-game-characters-will-never-look-human","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/entertainment\/107699-theres-one-reason-why-video-game-characters-will-never-look-human","title":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s one reason why video game characters will never look human"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever been completely taken out of a serious or romantic moment just because of how dead-eyed a character looks?<\/p>\n<p>They could be the most perfectly-rendered representation of a human being, but there&#8217;s just something about the way their eyes look that completely takes you out of the experience.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;re not the only one, and according to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcodesign.com\/3064303\/the-impossibly-complex-art-of-designing-eyes\" target=\"_blank\">fastcodesign<\/a><\/strong>, it could be decades before developers get it right.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Across the video game industry, engineers are working to make eyes more realistic\u2014or at least less creepy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite all of our advancements in CGI and real-time physics, we\u2019ve hit a wall. Call it the uncanny valley. Call it something else.
