There’s seemingly a clear divide between PC and console gamers.<\/p>\n
Whether it’s because of the superior horsepower or simply a loyalty to the PC master race, there rarely seems to be a willingness to concede that consoles just do some things better.<\/p>\n
Here are four reasons you should think about getting a console instead of a gaming PC:<\/p>\n
There’s no other way around it –\u00a0 a R5,000 console that you can plug straight into your TV and will last you 4-5 years is cheaper than a gaming PC.<\/p>\n
What’s worse is that while there was a time when PC gaming was the way to go purely because of how much cheaper the games were, PC games have now crept up to the R1,000 mark.<\/p>\n
Combine this with decent sales on PSN and Xbox Live and I\u00a0can no longer in good faith say that PC gaming is cheaper than consoles.<\/p>\n
It’s certainly changed for the worse in recent years, but for the most part consoles still offer a better plug-in-and-play option over PC.<\/p>\n
They may run at lower framerates and worse graphics, but they also offer consistency and don’t require you to troubleshoot when things go wrong.<\/p>\n
Yes the Xbox One S and PS4 don’t allow for native\u00a04K gaming, but unless you’re packing an SLI setup or a GTX 1080, neither does your gaming PC.<\/p>\n
The upscaled gaming provided by the new consoles offers a cheap buy-in option for anyone looking to make the step up to 4K gaming.<\/p>\n
They’re also currently the cheapest 4K Blu-ray players on the market.<\/p>\n
This is the big one.<\/p>\n
Despite the new Windows 10 Play Anywhere program, there are still dozens of must-play games that are only available on console.<\/p>\n
Some will eventually make their way over to the Windows 10 store and\/or Steam, but important tiles like The Last of us and Halo: The Master Chief Collection can still only be found on their respective platforms.<\/p>\n
Add to this games that just play better on\u00a0a\u00a0controller\u00a0(like the FIFA games) and it’s suddenly worth having a console around the house.<\/p>\n
