The GTX 590 delivers 32 tessellation engines that can power today’s DX11 games at resolutions of 2560×1600 and higher.

The card comes equipped with four separate video outputs and users can hence configure four independent displays, or span their gaming across three 3D displays utilising Nvidia’s stereoscopic 3D Vision technology, at a resolution up to 5760×1080.

The card is also compatible with Nvidia SLI technology, opening up the opportunity (for those with serious cash to blow) of using a second GTX 590 for a Quad SLI gaming experience.

Two Nvidia GeForce GTX 590 3D cards set up in SLI

The GTX 590 claims to be the world’s quietest dual-GPU card through use of dual vapour chamber cooling. Measured with a standard decibel meter, Nvidia claims that the GTX 590 clocks in at 48dB. They further boast that this is “more than two times quieter than the closest competitive product under full graphics load.”

“To the human ear, this difference means the GTX 590 delivers a 3D gaming experience that is typical of a quiet library,” Nvidia goes on to state. We did a quick bit of checking and while they might be taking a bit of marketing liberty with this interpretation, they aren’t far off (if their measurements are accurate). Starting at 40dB you have a library, bird calls (44 dB), and the lowest limit of urban ambient sound. Beginning at about 50dB you have a quiet suburb, conversation at home and large electrical transformers at ±30 metres.

“The GTX 590 is the best dual GPU product ever built,” said Drew Henry, general manager of GeForce GPU business at NVIDIA. “With leading performance, support for multi-monitor 3D gaming, Quad SLI, and an acoustic envelope that begs to be heard for how quiet it is, the GTX 590 epitomizes what a perfect dual graphics card looks, performs, and sounds like.”

The GeForce GTX 590 will be available from numerous Nvidia add-in card partners, including Asus, EVGA, Gainward, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSI, POV, Palit, and Zotac.

MyGaming is still awaiting confirmation on South African retail price points.

Discuss the Nvidia GTX 590 on the MyGaming forum.

Nvidia’s Tom Petersen (aka TAP) gives the rundown on the new GTX 590 graphics card in the video below.

An interactive demo of the new GeForce GTX 590

[7

post-10871","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hardware
["GET
