Infamous video game movie director Uwe Boll has announced his retirement from filmmaking, reports\u00a0the Toronto Metro<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boll said that his films have not been financially viable, and that he has been losing money by financing films himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe market is dead.\u00a0You don\u2019t make any money anymore on movies because the DVD and Blu Ray market worldwide has dropped 80 per cent in the last three years.”<\/p>\n

“That is the real reason; I just cannot afford to make movies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boll added\u00a0that he would be happy to continue making movies, but that it is just not profitable.<\/p>\n

The controversial director is best known for his terrible video game movie adaptions, which\u00a0are widely perceived as the worst video game movies ever made<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Boll’s final film will be the upcoming Rampage: President Down, which he says will not have a great impact on the film industry.<\/p>\n

“Rampage 3 will be watched on Netflix, DVD or iTunes or whatever,” Boll said.<\/p>\n

“With streaming everywhere there is just a big wave of movies flooding around and you have no impact.”<\/p>\n

Fans of video game movie adaptions have something to look forward to however, as both Assassin’s Creed<\/a><\/strong> and Gears of War<\/a><\/strong> films are currently in the works.<\/p>\n
