Blizzard announced at Blizzcon 2016 that as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Diablo, it has recreated its\u00a0original hack ‘n slash dungeon crawler as a special dungeon in Diablo 3.<\/p>\n

All 16 levels of\u00a0the hellscape under Tristram’s cathedral will be recreated in “Glorious RetroVision\u2122” (we’re not sure that trademark sign is not a joke) \u2014\u00a0special “90s inspired” audio and visual filters.<\/p>\n

Reprising their roles as the four epic boss fights\u00a0of the game are Diablo, The Butcher, The Skeleton King, and Lazarus.<\/p>\n

If the added gloom and grain from the RetroVision\u2122 filters aren’t enough to transport you back in time, the limitation to eight-direction character movement will certainly remind you how much better we have it now.<\/p>\n

The 20th\u00a0Anniversary Dungeon will be released as part of a patch for console and PC called The Darkening of Tristram.<\/p>\n

Blizzard said the patch will be live on the public test realm next week.<\/p>\n
