Putting to bed rumours\u00a0of a Diablo 4 announcement at Blizzcon 2016<\/a><\/strong>, Blizzard has confirmed a new playable class for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls as part of the\u00a0upcoming Rise of the Necromancer pack.<\/p>\n

No pricing or launch date for the pack was confirmed, though Blizzard said it would be released in 2017.<\/p>\n

To\u00a0access the content from Rise of the Necromancer, you will will need both Diablo III and Reaper of Souls on PC, or the Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation or Xbox.<\/p>\n

As the name suggests, the pack adds a throwback to the Necromancer from Diablo 2 as a playable class in Diablo 3.<\/p>\n

The pack will also include an in-game pet, two character slots, two stash tabs (on PC), a portrait frame, pennant, banner and banner sigil.<\/p>\n

Blizzard has put up an overview of the\u00a0necromancer on its website<\/a><\/strong> with an FAQ, introductory video, and animated GIFs showing some of its abilities.<\/p>\n

Necromancer abilities<\/h3>\n

One of the questions players are asking Blizzard, is how the Necromancer will be different from the Witch Doctor, to which it provided the following answer:<\/p>\n

The Necromancer and Witch Doctor are quite different in both theme and play style!<\/p>\n

Witch Doctors draw their magic from their spiritual connection to a realm they call the Unformed Land. This more light-hearted take on supernatural powers allows them to command creepy crawly denizens of the jungle and summon mindless zombified pets.<\/p>\n

Necromancers can expect darker, more controlled gameplay centered around the raw materials of life: blood and bone. Grounded in a philosophical, pragmatic approach to life and death, they\u2019re more like a calculated conductor of the darkest arts. Deadly serious in their practice, they are the experts of curses and reanimation\u2014and their pets obey their every command.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blizzard also showed some of the abilities that will be available to the Necromancer.<\/p>\n
