A few weeks before Crysis 2 was released, it was revealed that the PC version would ship with only DirectX 9 support. This shocked many PC gamers who remember the original Crysis being a flagship DirectX 10 game at the time of its release. It was then hinted that DirectX 11 would be patched in following the release.<\/p>\n

An obscure German site, PC-Max, then reported<\/a> that the patch would be released on 28 March. This did not happen, and a Crytek representative announced<\/a> a few days later that, “No patch was ever confirmed, I have no idea why this website even posted such information.”<\/p>\n

However, comments which have since been removed emerged on a Crysis employee’s Twitter profile<\/a> confirming that a DX 11 patch is indeed currently being developed.<\/p>\n

The latest development comes from a far more reliable source – Eurogamer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The report claims that an anonymous trusted source informed Eurogamer that Crytek started working on DirectX 11 in November 2010, and that the developer was simply not able to achieve complete integration in time for the game’s launch.<\/p>\n

The same source claims that the patch will be released in the next 2-3 months. Crytek is supposedly skipping DirectX 10 support altogether, claiming that DirectX 11 renders it obsolete.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Crytek is about to drop a new PC patch which fixes the following:<\/p>\n

• Fix for spurious characters appearing when initiating text chat<\/p>\n

• Fix for Chatlog doesn’t disappear after kill cam
• Fixed occasional login issues
• Changed VOIP defaults
• Fixed some UI aspect issues on multiple monitors
• Added option for crouch toggle in MP & SP<\/p>\n

Crytek has also promised to crack down on players running hacks in the game’s multiplayer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
