Tyranny, the latest role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment, has released for PC today.<\/p>\n
The turn-based game features similar gameplay mechanics to Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian’s previous Kickstarter-funded role-playing title.<\/p>\n
Tyranny provides players with a unique perspective of morality compared to the traditional balance of good and evil found in the fantasy RPG genre.<\/p>\n

Despite this disappointment, I can\u2019t help but be impressed with what Tyranny does get right. Though I\u2019ve mentioned Knights of the Old Republic II and Planescape: Torment, there isn\u2019t really another RPG like Obsidian\u2019s latest.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s incredibly bold, and if you go down the darker path, often sickening.<\/p>\n
When it\u2019s at its best \u2013 pretty much the entirety of the fantastic and thankfully quite meaty second act \u2013 it more than holds its own against the greatest PC RPGs.<\/p>\n
Of course, the game is not perfect, and some may find the odd all-or-nothing decision regarding forces to recruit jarring, or the locations within the world itself a little too devoid of scope to be a truly immersive experience.<\/p>\n
However, it\u2019s in the large concepts, and in its gentle manipulation of the player\u2019s trained responses, that Tyranny finds its purpose.<\/p>\n
A must-have for fans of the genre, and a worthwhile title for those after a truly different experience.<\/p>\n
