Battlefield: Play4Free is now live, available to PC gamers. With roots in the acclaimed Battlefield franchise of competitive online FPS, Play4Free should have the right genes to deliver a compelling gaming experience.<\/p>\n
Battlefield: Play4Free combines the most popular maps from Battlefield 2 with the popular classes – Engineer, Medic, Assault and Recon – and powerful weapons of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. There are 16 different vehicles including the Mil Mi-28 attack helicopter, its nemesis the F35 VTOL jet fighter, the massive Russian T-90 main battle tank, and the hard to catch LSV light strike vehicle.<\/p>\n
The game supports up to 32 players per match and will use the progression system and weapon and equipment unlocks familiar to Battlefield veterans.<\/p>\n
The game can be obtained from the Battlefield: Play4Free website<\/a>. Unfotunately there will no dedicated servers for the SA region<\/a>, but with a bit of luck and some tight net-code, the game may be playable on international servers.<\/p>\n What is unique about Battlefield: Play4Free is that it has been touted as looking like a AAA game, with senior producer James Salt telling Eurogamer<\/a> that “We think people will be quite surprised at the quality, actually.” He went on to say, “colour grading, film grain, and depth of field effects: we’ve got all that stuff.”<\/p>\n Like Battlefield: Heroes, Play4Free will make money from micro-transactions, although Salt is well aware that the majority of gamers “won’t want to spend a cent.”<\/p>\n “As with Battlefield Heroes, the stuff we’re selling are weapons and clothing customisation items for the most part,” said Salt. “With clothes, it’s only if you want to look really, really badass. With weapons, it’s much more about balancing: this gun is really fast, but it’s got no grip; this one just looks really cool. It’s always a personal choice and it’s never going to unbalance the match.”<\/p>\n Players can also rock out on the battlefield to the latest song ’Age of Rage’ from Swedish heavy rockers CORRODED. The single is featured in the game and the launch trailer. ‘Age of Rage’ will be included in the band’s upcoming second album, ‘Exit to Transfer.’<\/p>\n \n
