{"id":111329,"date":"2016-12-15T09:00:16","date_gmt":"2016-12-15T07:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=111329"},"modified":"2016-12-15T09:01:55","modified_gmt":"2016-12-15T07:01:55","slug":"the-4-biggest-tech-trends-coming-in-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/features\/111329-the-4-biggest-tech-trends-coming-in-2017","title":{"rendered":"The 4 biggest tech trends coming in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2017 is just around the corner, and with it a bunch of whole new year of exciting technology.<\/p>\n<p>While some of this technology will be completely new to us, there are already some pretty clear trends forming.<\/p>\n<p>Check them out below:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>VR Dominance<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The three big VR headsets are out, but it&#8217;s only in 2017 that they will truly get the chance to thrive.<\/p>\n<p>2017 will see developers and manufacturers get a feel for what the market wants, and by the end of the year we should see the first must-have VR titles.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t be too surprised if we also see new and cheaper players in the game and a refinement of the Google Cardboard technology.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Smart Appliances (The Internet of Things)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The &#8220;Internet of Things&#8221; has become a bit of an over-used word in the tech industry, but it&#8217;s clear the technology is not going anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>While there is still relatively limited use in having your smartphone talk to your toaster, the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/gilpress\/2016\/11\/01\/internet-of-things-iot-2017-predictions-from-forrester\/#6f2f9c746bb6\" target=\"_blank\">promise <\/a><\/strong>is definitely there.<\/p>\n<p>2017 will see more IoT devices reach consumers and more practical uses uncovered.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Going Mobile<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Currently four out of five people use their phones to shop, reports <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/mnewlands\/2016\/08\/31\/6-disruptive-trends-in-technology-for-2017\/#4d60be4c4ba3\" target=\"_blank\">Forbes<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That should tell you just how mobile the world is becoming, as more and more people rely on their smartphones over their laptops and PCs.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Fibre<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>With more and more cities around the world <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alphr.com\/technology\/1001355\/95-of-the-uk-will-have-fibre-broadband-by-2017-what-about-the-other-5\" target=\"_blank\">jumping <\/a><\/strong>onto Fibre internet connections, it&#8217;s become increasingly clear that 2017 is South Africa&#8217;s turn.<\/p>\n<p>While we don&#8217;t expect it to take over ADSL connections just yet, a strong foothold was already established in 2016 and we only expect new deals and better coverage in 2017.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Which piece of new tech or innovation are you most excited for in 2017?
