It appears that 2017 may be the first time in a number of years that PC games require more of your processor.<\/p>\n

This is seems to be the case, according to a number of benchmarks posted on Anandtech\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>measuring how CPU performance affects newer titles, including Battlefield 1\u00a0and Watchdogs 2.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0these games, even\u00a0two Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080’s running in SLI cannot compensate for older processor hardware.<\/p>\n

This isn’t all too surprising, as CPU performance has been in a rut <\/a><\/strong>for a while now with many gamers still able to play modern games using the first and second generations of Intel’s i3 and i5 processors.<\/p>\n

It’s not all bad news though – while it will mean an extra cost the next time you upgrade, \u00a0it could also finally translate to a bigger jump in performance.<\/p>\n
