Deutsche Boerse, Germany’s largest stock exchange operator is planning to open the world’s first video game stock exchange.<\/p>\n

“It will allow gamers to trade virtual goods, called in-game items, which can range from weapons used in games such as Activision Blizzard\u2019s Call Of Duty to furniture for Electronic Arts\u2019 \u00a0<\/span>life simulation game Sims,” reports Fortune<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The market for in-game items is estimated to reach a value of more than $46 billion next year and is expected to grow by an compound annual rate of more than 6%, according to research firm Super Data Research.<\/p>\n

But this market is relatively untapped.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment there are few opportunities for players to legally trade game items,\u201d Deutsche Boerse said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Deutsche Boerse and Naga said the exchange operator\u2019s new platform would offer a \u201cfair, secure and legal environment\u201d for trading.<\/p>\n

Naga, which will control the joint venture, said the platform will launch between April and June<\/strong>\u00a02017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
