{"id":11309,"date":"2011-04-14T10:34:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-14T08:34:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"wii-price-cut-rumoured-for-next-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/11309-wii-price-cut-rumoured-for-next-month","title":{"rendered":"Wii price cut rumoured for next month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2011\/04\/12\/nintendo-cutting-wii-price-to-150-on-may-15th\/\" target=\"_blank\">Engadget&rsquo;s<\/a> industry spies (or, more euphemistically, &ldquo;trusted sources&rdquo;), Nintendo is planning to cut 25% off the Wii&rsquo;s recommended retail price point, taking it from $199 down to $150, on the 15th of next month.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s not an unlikely contingency, given the console&rsquo;s recent flagging sales, although one has to wonder if everybody who&rsquo;s ever going to buy a Wii perhaps already has one by now. Console war correspondent VGChartz has the Wii&rsquo;s worldwide sales at around 86 million now, which is already most of the planet (Um&#8230; &#8211; Ed).<\/p>\n<p>The Wii hasn&rsquo;t had a price cut since September 2009, when it went from $249 to its current pricetag.
