As far as singleplayer experiences go, Mount and Blade: Warband ranks up there with the best of them, simply due to its unique and interesting gameplay.<\/p>\n
In Warband, the player starts off as a common mercenary, recruiting men from villages to assist lords and villagers in exchange for a few pieces of gold.<\/p>\n
However, the player and their little band of recruits slowly grows and improves through combat and training, turning into a fierce fighting force.<\/p>\n
Players become involved with the diplomacy of different kingdoms and can eventually serve under a king and own castles or villages, or even start their own kingdom.<\/p>\n
The game consists of two gameplay arenas, the overland and arena modes.<\/p>\n
While travelling, players move their warband across the map by simply clicking where they would like to move.<\/p>\n
However, during battles and within castles or towns,the game switches to a third-person view, where the player directly controls their character.<\/p>\n
This makes for addictive combat gameplay, as players control their character’s actions directly while issuing commands to their army via the number keys.<\/p>\n
Mount and Blade: Warband is a bit of a hidden gem, although its popularity on Steam has risen greatly thanks to a few sales.<\/p>\n
If you’re interested in a unique take on an RPG\/RTS hybrid, Warband is worth its price tag, and could very well be discounted during the upcoming Steam Sale.<\/p>\n
